Bishop Thévenot, M. Afr - Letter of thank you (Available here in PDF) for the Haiti Relief

Resource Centre, Sr. Rose-Marie Sanche - The Resource Centre is moving downstairs, so it will be closed from March 22 nd until April 12 th. That will give us time to dissemble and reassemble shelving, as well as replace all items. Anyone who would like to help, please contact Sr. Rose-Marie at 922-4747 ext. 229, or email res.cecr@sasktel.net Thank you for your cooperation and patience!

Liturgy, Heidi Epp – The Lent Liturgy Package and other resources for Lent are available on the Liturgy page of the website http://www.padiocese.sk.ca/Programs/liturgy.html . Please download the materials from there and give to those in Liturgy, Children’s Liturgy, Choir/Musicians/Choir Directors. If your parish or school needs a photocopy, please call the Diocesan office. Bishop Thévenot has also suggested some Lent material: Good Friday collection explanation read on April 2 nd. Way of the Cross and the Commissariat of the Holy Land in Canada support of the Holy Land document. All are available in French and english at www.commissariat.ca . At Bishop Thévenot’s request, our total collections for our diocese for Good Friday in 2008 was $19,954.97, and in 2009 was $12,330.48.

March 21 & 28, 2010 – Chrism Choir Practice - There will be two Choir Practices: Sunday March 21 at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday March 28 at 2:00 p.m. Both practices will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Those joining the Diocesan Choir for the Chrism Mass are asked toattend at least one of these practice times. These practice times will allow the choir to be able to participate in the Banquet; there will be only a short warm-up at 6:30 p.m. before the Chrism Mass Celebration.

March 30, 2010 – Chrism Mass – The Letter is available on the website: www.padiocese.sk.ca . This year’s Chrism Mass Celebration, Tuesday, March 30 at 7:00pm is held at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Prince Albert. The Banquet will be held at 5:00 p.m. at the Exhibition Center. Additional tickets will be available for the banquet for $20 each on a first come first serve basis. We are encouraging each priest to bring two people 15 to 25 years of age from each parish or mission to receive the parish oils. To send in the names of those representing your parish or those interested in additional tickets need to contact Heidi Epp for more information: liturgy.cecr@sasktel.net or call on Tuesdays in the Office: 922-4747 or at home 223-4237. Every member of our Prince Albert Diocese is welcome to attend the Celebration.

Youth Ministry Office, Warren Dungen:

Thank-you to everyone who attended, hosted or organized the retreats led by the National Evangelization Team (NET) the past 2 weeks. Their ministry brought about many blessings. Thank you to all who contributed to the Bishops Annual Appeal for making this kind of outreach possible through your generous gift. If you would like to be on the calendar for the team’s schedule in 2011, please notify the Office of Youth Ministry ASAP – youth.cecr@sasktel.net.

March 27, 2010 – On Palm Saturday the Diocese will be hosting our Second Annual Diocesan “World Youth Day” with a special celebration of the Jewish Seder(Passover) Mealand Eucharist with Bishop Albert Thévenot presiding. This will be open to all priests, parish youth leaders, up to 4 youth per parish and WYD pilgrims. Registration information was sent to every parish electronically and is available on the website. Apr 24-25, 2010Michael Chiasson will be leading a Youth Retreat in Meadow Lake for Deanery 6. This will be open to all youth Gr. 7-12. Registration information will be sent out shortly. Retreat begins at 1:30pm on Sat Apr 24 and finishes Sun Apr 25 at 2:30pm. If you would like more information please contact Warren Dungen 922-4747 or via email: youth.cecr@sasktel.net

Social Justice, Louis Hradecki: And Our Response is … Do we celebrate moments in our community’s life when things are made right and just? Or do we, like the elder son in today’s Gospel, lack understanding when justice is finally done for people who have lived under poor conditions or made poor choices? 

Our Parish and Events in the Diocese

Wednesday Lenten Luncheons Series – Wednesdays March 17, 24, 31 presented by the Prince Albert Ministerial Association. Please note Bishop Thévenot will be speaking March 31. The theme is based on St. Matthew's Gospel: "How you see Jesus determines what kind of relationship you have with Him". All will take place at the St. Alban’s Anglican Cathedral ( 1410 Bishop McLean Cres.) Lunch begins at 12:00 p.m., cost is $3.00, and 12:20 – 12:45 is Worship and the Word given by different denominations within Prince Albert.

Monday evenings - Glory Adoration and Praise (GAP) - GAP is a night of Adoration with music and quiet time for all youth and young adults in Prince Albert at Rivier Academy’s main Chapel, Monday nights from 7 –8 p.m. For more information, call Dan Brulé at 960-8205.

March 19-20, 2010 - "A Time for Hope:  Finally, Good News About Marriage" will be the theme for a national marriage enrichment conference, sponsored by the R.C. March 21, 2010 – Open House at Rivier Academy for girls in grade 7 – 12. All parents, regardless of your child’s age, are welcome to attend with your family. Application forms will be available for pickup at this time. If you are unable to attend but would like more information about the school and our registration procedure, please contact the Registrar, Judy Bonneau at 764-6289.

March 24, 2010 -"Chosen Women in the Bible" will take place at St. Joseph Calasanctius Parish in North Battleford, Wednesday, March 24th, 2010 @ 7:00 pm. The facilitator is Sr. Jane Jochim, OSU . Sr. Jane is a member of the Ursuline Sisters of Prelate, a retired teacher, and holds a degree in Theology.  She is a Spiritual Director and has ministered in the Archdiocese of Edmonton, involved in rural catechetics. She has served in foreign missions in Brazil, the West Indies and Latvia.  We are very fortunate to have her as a member of our Parish.

March 27, 2010 – Palm Saturday Seder Meal/Passover Meal – will begin at 5 p.m. with the Procession of Palms, Seder Ritual and Meal, Eucharist, Praying with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, Mystagogy and sharing, and departure by 9 p.m. Six participants are invited from every parish including a Youth Leader and the Pastor. March & April 2010 - Catholic Christian Outreach Discovery Faith Study: "Journey back to the heart of the Father through Jesus" , every Thursday @ 7:00 pm at St. Joseph Calasanctius Parish in North Battleford from February 25th - April 8th, 2010 . The facilitator is Dr. Jim McLane . Dr. McLane is a veterinarian by profession, employed by the Government of Canada.  He is a founding member of St. Therese Healing and Growth Centre, Bruno, Sk.  Jim is a member of our Parish and Chairperson of our Liturgy Committee.

April 16-18, 2010 – Rachel’s Vineyard Weekend Retreats are a beautiful opportunity for any person who has struggled with the emotional or spiritual pain of abortion. Many of the facilitators have suffered the same loss. They provide a non judgmental and safe environment. The next weekend retreat is April 16-18, 2010. Queen’s House of Retreats – Queen's House is a creative blend of leisure and challenge, solitude and community, prayer and interaction. Part-time employment - Prince Albert Catholic Education Foundation, Inc. – The Prince Albert Catholic Education Foundation Board is looking for an Executive Director to work on a contract basis. Requirements for this position are as follows: Committed Catholic, active in the practice of their faith; energetic and creative, with strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills; demonstrated proficiency in word processing; work independently and meets deadlines; good verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to work alone and in a team environment. Previous experience with Boards and committees would be an asset. This is a part-time position with flexible hours.
